Today the robot people brought the class up to speed on how the club is doing. We showed the game animation which came out on satuday and talked about scoring points and our strategy.
Today my dad talked about an alternative to HTML for the pople who are struggling. I am gonna stick with HTML cause this is my third year with it and it makes no sense for me to switch to google sites.
Today we had a wednesday challenge. It was to cut as perfect a square as possible. I was paired up with armin and accadentally cut him with the boxcutter because his finger was in the way.
Today My dad did moree talking about the google sites I just helped cream cheese(elizabeth) put in a homepage because she wanted one. That took the whole period. I also helped Armin get logged into google.
Today we did like a week in review for robotics. we talked about what part of the game we chose to play and sam and I showed some of our ideas to the class for how we would go about playing it
Today there was more HTML v. Google and so some of the vets went to the cad cave to work on robotics stuff.
Today there was a wednesday challenge but the robot people were excused so I tried to work on stephanie. she is an old robot from 2013 and needed aa new radio. once i got the new radio installed there was a problem getting it power. I ended upp having to clean up cause I ran out of time but we should have her working within the week.
Today I did more work on stephanie. We got her running and now we just need to resolve the pnumatics issue but tonight at robotics Im gonna have angela who i regard as the best pnumatcs person to help us.
Today we just did a little presentation to the class about our progress in the club. I showed off a working sstephanie minus pnumatics, to the class. I then workeed on fixing pnumatics but wwas unsuccesfull. I wil have angela and sam work on it tonight.
Today I was working with Sam on trying to get the chasis welded together. We used the wilton blocks and axels to keep it square. We di make one mistake in not doubl checking our ange meassurements but wwhen it came down to it we lucked out and were only 1/8" off over 37 inches which is pretty good because if it a more we would have to cut it all up and sart again.
Today I worked on getting the last pieces for the upper chassis done so we can start squaring it up. after school Jacob, Jessy, and I worked on tacking the chassis together. Hopefully we will b able to start welding tomorrrow because we are a little behind.
Today Ian and I were working on weldinng the rest of the chassis together. We started by double checking to make sure all the angles are square and they are so then we started laying down beads on the chassis. And we finished!
Today I worked on fabricating more bars for the superstructure of this years robot. We then started tacking togehter the super structure but we only got a feew pieces done
Today we sppent most of our time finishing tacking the robot frame. There was a lot of work too do because there are 3 times as many pieces this year but other than that it was awesome.
Yesterday I was at robotics for over 12 hours. I started by helping team 2404 weld their robot along with jessy and sam. I sort of feel bad because some of the welds were bad and I will feel really bad if their robot breaks. but we thwn finished welding the entire superstructure and painted it so now its just the right shade of blue.
Today in natos instead of doing the wed chall he was gracious enough to let a few of us work on robot assembly and sso I assisted sam and Kevin with that. My main objective was getting the camera mount holes drilled because they wernt givn to cad and so wernt given to fab and must now be drilled in an already welded and painted robot.
Today We continued the long task of assembly. We are trying to get ready for the scrimmage tomorrow. We wer trying to get al the ball mch things assembled but it seems like there are a ton of minor ajustments to make it work.
Today we gave a prsentation to the class about the robot. We got to drive it around to show it off which was cool but then a bearing fell out and we had to remedy that. I also got to do some real drive practice with the robot today which was nice. I hopng to be a robot diver agin this year.

Today I came to school and we had a wednesday challenge. We made a CAD of an A and had to give it to another team. We tried to make our CAD as easy to make as possible. It was taking other groups a long time so we didnt get another CAD before the bell rang.

Today I went back to work on the rope climber design but then had to talk with neato about my grades because I turned my website in late and ended up with a zero on it. after that was resolved I was able to go back and continue on the climber. We were talking about having to put a spindal on the winch axel and various gearing ratio's.
Today we spent more time working on the climber. Mostly I just watched Kevin CAD becaue sam and I were just tossing ideas around and stuff.
Today we had a wedchall about making a boattail for a rocket. This was the first time weve done this one and it was difficult. We had several sheets ofequations we could use but i know several groups didnt and were just as if not more successful than the other groups.
Today we made the final design of our boat tail. Yesterday I mad almost the whole thing but today I let the rest of the group be hands on while I coached.
Today I spent the first part of class working on my website so it wont be late. Im not sure what ill do next but it will prob be climber stuff.
Today the Cheers Club continued work we had started on saterday and discussed the types of bearings we would need for the climbing mechanism. Also we made some revisions to the CAD. We decided on doing a worm-drive for the climber so it cant backspin and fall down the rope.
Today I worked on the climber with kevin and sam. We also worked on some math for gear artios and such.
Today neato explained the chip challenge to the class. This is a wed chall that i am one of the judges for and i have to collect and distribute all the CADS and files. So Kirk and I startd by writting all the names of the groups and creating an equation sheet for the results.
Today we collected the firet few designs and then i just talked with the cheers club.
Today I spent the entire day swaping Cads for the potato chip chall.
Today Ian and I continued to swap CADs for the class. This has been the hardest logistical problem ive faced in this class.
Today was the end build day for the challenge, we put on the labels, made sure we could ship them, disqualified a few for various reasons and the best part was we threw them off a balcony as an initial stress test. You could get a pretty good sense of which ones are goign to do well and which ones arent from that single test.
Today We left for ventura. It is the first competition for us and i Hope it will be a lot of fun. Todays goal is to get the robot through inspection.
Yesterday went well we passed inspection in only 22 minutes. Today was the first day of quals and it went pretty well i had 4 matchs today. There were no real prolems with the robot driving and we had some really good matchs.
Today was our first day back from spring break. We told the class how our first comp went and about how we won the Imagery award and how Ms. Martos won the Woody Flowers award.
Today we started getting packages back and started gradeing them. Also Sam and I worked on making pieces fr the cliimbing mech for the robot. We leave for competitionn onn thursday morning and we hope to have the climber totally working.
Today we went to UCR to compete in the Orange county regional. Last night we went to set up the pit but we got there late and other complications caused us to not really get everything moved into our pit. We put a bunch of stuff in the Fridolins pit because they are super nice. Today we had to assemble the climber mech and put it on the robot. It was pretty difficlt and ended up not working. On the bright side we passed inspection in only 20 minutes.
Today was the first day of Qual matchs for Orange County. It was a pretty bad day. We lost almost every match i think sam was the only one to win a match. This was pretty demoralizing.
Today we talked to the class about how comp went. We showed some match videos and such.
Today we basically just worked on potato chip stuff and websites. A lot of the vets are behind on their websites so neato and miller are pissed off. They called us the cheers club because everytime they go in the CAD cave its like we are all just watching kevin work and screwing around. anyway we worked on websites.
Today we continued working on websites and chip scores. Also some people were working on improving the climber.

Today Mr. Gordon cmae and we worked with him on the climber some more. We are now going to use a planetary gear box we ordered from andymark and it will arrive at our pit in Houston. Oh ya I forgot to mention that we qualified for championships in Houston Texas for the first time in 589 history.
Yesterday started block schedule so I wont have entries for yesterday or tomorrow. Basically I worked on my website and talked with Gordon sam and kevin about climber design. Also we sent the robot off with the FEDEX guy. I didnt get to participate in packing but was able to see it off.
Today was another block day and we worked on websites and stuff but i also worked on welding a sink stand for Martos. The schol is removing our old sink and replacing it but martos wanted to keep the old one however one of the GUSD guys broke it so sam and I worked on welding it back together.
Today I worked on welding 589 onto the side of Martos' thing and it took me a few tries. I was using the stick welder so its really messy. After it cooled I took it outside and painted it 589 blue since i ground of a lot of paint.
Today mostly we were just getting ready for competition. Samm worked on making a second drum for the climber and i helped him for a while cause the lathe was beeing stupid. Then i wrked on my website sme more.
Today I didnt really do much cause I was so excited about leavig for competition. We left CV for LAX at 8:30 and our flight left at aroound 12 PM. This was a really bad flight cause we got very little sleep and it was already morning in houston when we landed so just a lack o sleep.
Today was inspection day. We had to fix thhe climber and ass inspection but the pits didnt open till 1 and closed at 8 so we had significantly less time. however we got it all done and were able to finally see our robot climb in a practice match!

Today we had the second day of practice matchs. despite falling once and having the battery come unplugged i think we have a pretty good shot of being selected for an alliance tomorrow.
SATURDAY Today we had alliance selection right at the beginning and neither us nor the fridolins were selcted for an alliance so that a buummer but we took dn the pit and went to minute made stadiu to watch the finals matchs and fireworks.
Today we talked to the clss about competition. We showed five pictures and each of us gave our opinion on those pictures.
Today the gordons got back with their van of stuff from comp and we word on unpacking that and getting them on their way.
Im sill really behind on my website so I spent the whole day tring to work on it but the comp i was using ddt have notepad++ or filezilla so it too a while to make it work.
Today I took my laptop write at the beging o class and worked on my website for the whole day.
Today sam and I just worked on making a crate to store all our competition shelves in. We have to do this because the boxes that the shelves are normally stored in are falling apart even though they have been thoroughly duct taped. We just cut out some pieces today but didnt have enough time to put it all together.
Today sam and I got most of the work done on the box. It now has sides and could technically be used in its current config but sam wants to add some more braces and I agree with him.

Today I started working on designing my skateboard. I want to style it after a fish type surfboard. Last year I made a board that looked like a surfboard longboard and so I want to keep with the theme of a surf style skateboard.
Today I worked some more on my design and I think I’m almost there. Just a few more curves to round out on sketchup.
Today I finished up my design and was able to print out my papers. Thanks to Alvin for helping me remember how to print it all. I was also able to start cutting and taping my outline.
Today I Spent the day cutting out stuff. I started by cutting out my skateboard outline. After I was done with that I cut out the pieces I need for my plywood.
Today I helped Ian cut out some pieces for his board. Then both ian and I started glueing our wood. I was in the little press and it took a little while so I was about fifteen minutes late to english class but it’s ok cause we are only writing speeches.
Today I got my wood out of the press and traced my pattern on it. Neato wants me to wait another day before I cut because the glue might still be a little wet. I spent the rest of the period scraping excess glue off the side of my plywood.
Today I started by finishing my website for this grading period. Then i worked on cutting out my skateboard from the wood.
Today I was finaly able to cut out my wood. It only took me a few minuutes at the beginning of class because I had everything layed out and have done this before. I then started hand sanding all the edgs to bring it closer to final shape.
Today I continued doing sanding but it got really boring really fast.
Today we had a wedchall but also sam kevin and I were working on making a special gift for martos. We needed kevin to mae a CAD so that Sam andd I could fabricate tomorrow. The wed chall was about putting together a structure blinfolded. It mostly focuses on teamwork but also strong leadeship. Without leadership everygroup will just do whatever they want and nothing will get done. Thats exactly what happened No one stood upp and took charge so nothing got done.
Today Sam and I just worked on our project for martos. It is a sign that spellls out her name in 1x1 alm. It didnt take us to long to make it but hen micheal welded our last tip shut and we had to stop.
I was sick today.
Today I went back to sandiing my board. Ive got it almost where I eant but now need a power sander.
Today I got a hold of the power sander and was able to get it down to the right shape. All that has to be done now is sanding the faces.
Today I started finding the center line of the board. It took me almmost all period but i eventually did it and made it work.
Today I was abe to get a pair of thimgs to drill holes in my board. I got them all set up and then drilled holes
Today I was able to get out of first and second period to work on my board. I was able to sand both faces and start taping my design before fifth periiod. I started painting att lunnch so that I could get a coat of poly on it before the end of fifth. I managed to accomplish all this today. The plan is to just put one mmore coat on so that It eill be done on time.
